about

|| Volume Two // Jul - Nov 2010 ||

"Selected Works... Volume 2" presents Sans Cire in the latter half of 2010.

Recorded November 3rd at Leeds College of Music during a session for producer Dan Clark's Sounds Of The Funky Judobeat project, the first two tracks presented here were in fact part of one extended improvisation. Seguing into a jam featured at the end of "Selected Works... Volume 1" it felt appropriate that a very-different sounding 'Give Me The Right' stood on its own for Volume 2. We return to the basement for track 3 - the September 19th jam; originally nearly double the length, this edit was presented on a limited edition 2010 promo release. Closing the album on a more light-hearted note, a quirky montage of jams spanning dates from July through September; '[Excerpts]' contains the band's favourite moments, from the good to the down-right terrible: entertaining listening.

An eclectic fusion of influences resulted in an original sound that engaged audiences across the board yet never got captured in full on record. After months of road-testing songs, their self-produced debut album was left unfinished in June 2011. What remains is a tantalising glimpse of what was... ... more
